Custo Barcelona drew rave reviews at the Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week with the launch of the 2012 autumn-winter collection at Lincoln Center. With the launch of the Fall 2012 collection, the designer takes us to a rule-less world, full of creativity and nontraditional elegance. The looks on the catwalk are translated into surprising combinations, which include a mix of fit and oversized lines to create drama on the runway.The touch of contradiction is demonstrated through the use of tromple l´oëil effects, thus painting and insinuating the feminine silhouette through strategic cuts symbolizing freshness and freedom.
This fall season’s key fabric is wool, crafted in different ways. Like graphic boiled wool or cut-off wool mimicking tectonic plaques on embroidered fabrics. The designer also presented perforated wools as a base for pieces revealing what is underneath, and wool cut in small geometric shapes that create ironic animal figures. Other important elements for this season are metallic colors and tricot pieces with high-quality materials. Color is a key player with shades of green, red, brown, ocher and gray dominate the color palette. Each color becomes a symbol on the catwalk, transmitting Custo’s energetic and sophisticated personality.
Once more, the room of international and domestic editors, photographers, VIP’s and fans were at standing-room only to witness the Catalonian designer’s risky proposals. The front-row at Lincoln Center was occupied by America’s Top Model judge Miss “J” Alexander, NYC socialite Tinsley Mortimer, actress Torrey Devitto, Housewives of New York Jill Zarin, Miss Universe, Miss USA, Miss Teen USA, supermodel Almudena Fernandez, singer Zak Ambrose, and German television personality Loulou von Brochwitz.
L’Oréal Professionnel Master Session Artist, Amit Abraham, created regal hairstyles for the women on the Fall 2012 runway for Bibhu Mohapatra on February 13, 2012, at New York Fashion Week. The Bibhu Mohapatra Fall 2012 collection revolves around early the 20th century Chinese opera, The White Haired Girl, which tells the stories of the trials of Chinese peasant life and enduring spirit of love in colonial China. “The collection revolves around the protagonist’s strength, passion and courage for love in the imperial China,” explains Mohapatra.
Created by Abraham and his team, the hair on the runway reflected the sharp and bold oriental nature with long hair, centered at the crown and pulled back into a low ponytail. 2. Section hair, from crown to ears to create front and back sections.

L’Oréal Professionnel Master Session Artist, Joseph DiMaggio, created hairstyles for the women and men on the Fall 2012 runway for Timo Weiland on Sunday, February 12, 2012, at New York Fashion Week. The Timo Weiland Fall 2012 collection chronicled what the designers refer to as an “orbital romance” discovered at St. Mark’s Place in New York City’s East Village when downtown was a haven for artists, musicians, as well as stargazers. Known for their casual elegant designs for men and women, designers Timo Weiland and Alan Eckstein stayed true to their design philosophy but with a darker color palette and sophisticated silhouettes for the fall. Channeling the vibe of this downtown neighborhood, the hair brought the entire look together.
Created by DiMaggio and his team, the hair on the runway reflected the attitude of pre-rave post-punk era youth, with styles that were expertly textured, yet seemed effortlessly done.
