L’Oreal Professionnel at Timo Weiland F/W 2012

L’Oréal Professionnel Master Session Artist, Joseph DiMaggio, created hairstyles for the women and men on the Fall 2012 runway for Timo Weiland on Sunday, February 12, 2012, at New York Fashion Week. The Timo Weiland Fall 2012 collection chronicled what the designers refer to as an “orbital romance” discovered at St. Mark’s Place in New York City’s East Village when downtown was a haven for artists, musicians, as well as stargazers. Known for their casual elegant designs for men and women, designers Timo Weiland and Alan Eckstein stayed true to their design philosophy but with a darker color palette and sophisticated silhouettes for the fall. Channeling the vibe of this downtown neighborhood, the hair brought the entire look together.

Created by DiMaggio and his team, the hair on the runway reflected the attitude of pre-rave post-punk era youth, with styles that were expertly textured, yet seemed effortlessly done. Both female and male models sported hair of varying lengths which was prepped with a variety of L’Oréal Professionnel Texture Expert and Homme products, then roughed up to create volume. The final touch for the female look was a low pony tied with a thin black cord. To create this look for women, DiMaggio sprayed the NEW L’Oréal Professionnel Fresh Dust ($19.00 / 3.4 oz.) dry shampoo throughout hair to add volume and texture then pulled hair back into a low loose ponytail.

For a textured and roughed-up look for men DiMaggio, utilized a variation of L’Oréal Professionnel Homme Clay ($18.00 / 1.7 oz.), L’Oréal Professionnel Homme Mat ($18.00 / 2.7 oz.), and L’Oréal Professionnel Homme Strong ($17.00 / 5.0 oz.), to add texture to the men’s hair, for a lived-in look.

How to Get The Look: Women

1. Apply L’Oréal Professionnel Curl Satin ($19.00 / 6.8 fl. oz.) throughout hair.
2. Section hair at the crown by allowing it to fall at the natural part.
3. Spray NEW L’Oréal Professionnel Fresh Dust ($19.00 / 3.4 oz.) all over and under hair to create volume and a controlled messy texture.
4. Place the heavy side of the natural part over the ear, and tuck the light side behind the other ear.
5. Pull hair back into a loose low ponytail.
6. Spray L’Oréal Professionnel Volume Expand Volumizing Leave-in Spray ($24.00 / 4.2 fl. oz.) onto palms; rub together or heat with blow-dryer, then hover over crown/parted section of the hair to create natural volume.
7. Front pieces can fall; do not need to be pinned back.
8. Finish off the look with L’Oréal Professionnel Infinium 3 ($24.00 / 11 oz.) hairspray

How to Get The Look: Men

1.Use L’Oréal Professionnel Homme Clay ($18.00 / 1.7 oz.), or L’Oréal Professionnel Homme Mat ($18.00 / 2.7 oz.) to add a lived-in texture to the hair.
2.Apply L’Oréal Professionnel Volume Expand Volumizing Leave-in Spray ($24.00 / 4.2 fl. oz.) to create volume, and L’Oréal Professionnel Mythic Oil ($32.00 / 4.2 oz.) for shine.
3.Roughly distribute L’Oréal Professionnel Homme Strong ($17.00 / 5.0 fl. oz.) to lock texture in place.
4.Finish off with L’Oréal Professionnel Infinium 3 ($24.00 / 11 oz.) hairspray, and L’Oréal Professionnel Perfect Shimmer ($21.00 / 5.8 oz.).

Sephora Backstage at New York Fashion Week F/W 2012

Bright lids, matte lips and clean complexions were all the rage on the runways for NYFW Fall 2012, and the Sephora PROs were responsible for creating some of the most coveted beauty looks. Working with top designers like Charlotte Ronson, Catherine Malandrino and alice + Olivia, Sephora PRO captured the spirit of the season with the versatile looks outlined below. With the right products and their expert tips, you can easily transition your look this fall.


Sephora PRO Lead Artist Gilbert Soliz created a sultry eye, reminiscent of the uber-chic woman in the 1970’s, by applying the lightest shade of purple in the Charlotte Ronson All Eye Need Eye Shadow Palette in Dani ($22) to lid. Finish the look with a flawless complexion and a swipe of Dior DiorShow Mascara in Black ($25) to make eyes really pop. For an added edge, don a bright red lip with the Sephora Lip Attitude – Glamour in Red Flirt ($12) to really punctuate the look.

Fresh and Feminine Face at BEHNAZ SARAFPOUR

Sephora PRO Lead Artist Gilbert Soliz created a soft and velvety look by balancing flawless skin with a sultry lip. Apply the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 ($42) and then buff on a mineral powder, like the Laura Mercier Mineral Finishing Powder ($32), to perfect the complexion. This works to showcase subtle or nude colors on the face and enhance natural beauty. Next, define cheeks with the Make Up For Ever Sculpting Kit ($45) and brighten the under-eye area with the Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Radiant Touch ($40) to achieve an ethereal radiance. For a dramatic touch, create a strong dark lip with the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella ($24).


Inspired by the 1980’s remake of “Cat People,” Sephora PRO Lead Artist Gilbert Soliz created this dramatic look by using the Makeup Forever Khol Pencil in Black ($17) on both top and bottom lash lines. Start at the inner corner of the eyes and extend the line outward to create a precise and graphic look. Blend the lines with Makeup Forever Aqua Black Waterproof Cream Eyeshadow ($22) using a liner brush for a fashion-forward yet wearable flare. Finally, finish with a volumizing mascara. With eyes as the focal point, keep skin simple by contouring the cheeks with Laura Mercier Bronzing Duo ($32). Apply the darker bronzing powder to the hollow of the cheeks and the lighter shade to the top of the cheekbones to highlight.

Kissable Lips at TIMO WEILAND

Sephora PRO Lead Artist Jose Rivera layered nude pink lipstick like the Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupte Silky Sensual Radiant Lipstick SPF 15 in 23 Luscious Pink over a flesh toned shade like 24 Praline Delight ($34 each) for a modern twist on the nude lip. Match with a simple black eyeliner and fresh, clean skin for the edgy, downtown-cool vibe that the designer embodies.

Statement-making Nails at ALICE + OLIVIA

It is undeniable that fun and flirty nails have been the biggest style statement over the past year. From bejeweled top coats to intricate patterns, attention-getting nails were the ultimate finishing touch to any look. At alice + olivia, Sephora PRO Artist Sara Biria applied the Sephora by OPI Trend Tips in Silver Metallic or Black & Gold Glitter ($12) to complement the embellished designs in the collection.
